Parks, protected areas and outdoor activities
Opera 02 is immersed in a natural environment where there are many places and opportunities to relax, to discover and to dedicate yourself to outdoor activities. The hills at the foot of the Apennines between Modena and Bologna represents a territory rich in different habitats and landscapes, where within a few kilometers it is possible to pass from the chestnut trees, typical of the mountain, to the rows of poplars along the banks of the rivers, images characteristics of the Po Valley. In the middle stretches of woods and thickets, fields and streams, crossed by many itineraries to be covered on foot or by bicycle, ideal for simple relaxing walks, as well as to satisfy the most determined sportsmen.
Within a few tens of kilometers there are many regional natural parks where you can observe some unique wonders of their kind, such as the Sassi di Roccamalatina or the Salse di Nirano. And in the same way the agricultural landscape is obviously of extraordinary importance, with several farms open to visitors. Finally, for fans of the most diverse outdoor sports activities there are many opportunities, including the nearby golf courses of the Modena Golf Country Club.
Sassi di Roccamalatina
The rock formations known as Sassi di Roccamalatina are a unique element within the landscape of the early Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. The regional park that surrounds them represents an environment rich in verdant woods and ancient isolated villages, an ideal habitat for deers, birds, foxes and badgers. There are also numerous paths for walking or cycling, to spend pleasant hours in the regenerating relaxation of nature.
Salse di Nirano
A short distance from Opera 02, at the Salse di Nirano Nature Reserve, it is possible to observe a curious geological phenomenon of extraordinary interest. Here, in fact, there is one of the most significant examples in Italy of mud volcanos. The reserve is also immersed in an uncontaminated environment, where it is possible to go for long and relaxing walks in the countryside.
Parco dell'Abbazia di Monteveglio
The Monteveglio Abbey Park is a large protected area that surrounds the homonymous historical site, on the Bolognese hill. Here woods and slopes frame a pristine nature rich in animal and vegetable species. Numerous itineraries can be followed on foot or by bicycle, also passing through vineyards and ancient villages.
G. Raffa educational farm
Right next to Opera 02, the G. Raffa Educational Farm is the ideal place to allow children to discover the wonders and curiosities of nature. Here you can observe and get to know the many animals that live in the barn, in the courtyard or in the pond, play in the open air and participate in the many workshops and activities on offer.
Modena Golf Country Club
For all golf enthusiasts, the Modena Golf Country Club is a short distance from Opera 02. A nine-hole course, one of the most popular in Italy for both amateurs and professionals, winds its way through a park of over one hundred hectares. At the club headquarters, inside an ancient country residence, all services, bar and wellness area are available to members and guests.
By bike
Opera 02 is the ideal place from which to explore the area by bicycle. The hill is in fact rich in routes that can satisfy all tastes, from the simplest and most relaxing itineraries, to the most demanding ones, perfect for the most determined sportsmen. It thus becomes possible to discover unique glimpses of the surrounding landscape, living an experience of pure well-being and pleasure.
